Napier GC Club Champs 2021

Very excited, Club champs final time. Was a bit worried it would be called off as we’ve had heavy rain all week. The weather behaved itself for most of the day, we had 2 or 3 down pours but it could have been worse.

Really Cool to be up against Bruce Middlemiss. NGC legend who’s won 7 titles.
It was a good tight match for the first 15 holes but after the first found was completed, I had a 3 up lead. It was great to see the supporters come out for our second round. About 30 spectators supporting the men and woman’s finals. I built on my lead early in the second round and was 7 up after 27 holes. A nice birdy on the 28th and a par on 29th and it was all over. What a great feeling. Big thanks to Andrew Henare for all your help this week.

Qualified in first place with rounds of 70 and 69. I’m happy with that.

31 July 21 – First matchplay round. Finished the match on the 11th hole. Won 8/7. 4 birdies and a single bogey. Moved the ball both ways and had really good control. Always work-ons but happy with the way I played.

12 Sept 21 – Second matchplay round. Up against my mate Luke Winter. Great to be back at it after Covid lockdown. Started well winning the first hole with a birdie and didn’t let up the whole match. 6 birdies, 2 bogeys and a walk off eagle to finish the match 7/6. Very happy with my day.

Oct 2nd 21 – Semi final time for NGC senior club champs.
Sporting a new Titilest driver as I cracked my old Callaway driver during the week. Wasn’t to sure how I’d go off the tee. 7 birdies and 1 bogey. Won the match 7/6.
Really happy with how I played. Can’t wait for the final.

Pennants Final 2021

Sunday 23 May we played the final of pennants at Hastings GC vs Hastings and once again I was up against Stu Duff. It was an excellent match and I came out on top 2/1 for a very satisfying win. The team rallied with 2 holes to play and Napier GC came away with a 6-3 victory to win the Senior Championship pennant for the year.

2021 South Island Under16

Final round and the weather took a turn for the worse at the wrong time and I had a run of bogeys and a double to be back a couple of shots. I rallied and had a nice birdie on 17 to be one behind playing the last but couldn’t capitalize and finished a really solid 2nd. Happy with the weeks work! Tough course and tougher weather!!

Round 2 and a thankful 3 birdies to start followed by a double bogey then a bogey for an even par round to be +2 for the tournament tied for the lead. Only one player in the U19 section bettered even par today so it was a good score. One round to go.

A solid start to the tournament with 3 bogeys and 1 birdie to be 2 over, one shot behind the leader. Looking forward to the putter warming up!!

2021 Wairarapa Open at Masterton GC.

Final round didn’t quite go how I planned it. Birdied the last hole for level par round and tied 1st on 7 under for the tournament. Now a 3 man playoff. Par 5 18th hole and my birdie wasn’t good enough to the eagle so I ended up tied 2nd for the tournament. Still a fine result and so close. Great experience.

Second round had 5 birdies and 2 bogeys for a 68 to be leading by 1 shot with one round left tomorrow.  Playing well and looking forward to it.

First round was real solid with 2 birdies 1 eagle to shoot be 4 under par 67.

NZ Strokeplay 2021 Paraparaumu GC

Final round I redeemed by myself somewhat. I turned 2 under and then had 3 more birdies by 15, finished with a couple of bogeys but signed for 68 and was easily my best round. Completed the tournament in 42nd place.

In the second round a turned 1 under and then disaster struck and then it got worse and I signed for 78 (+7) to be well down the list.

In the second round I came unstuck with a double bogey on my last hole the 9th and shot 75 to be tied 44th.

In the first round I missed too many greens and struggled to hole the short putts making for far too many bogeys with 7 on the card. This was offset by 6 birdies and holing 5 twenty footers and I finished tied 35th with a +1 score.
